1 out of 5 stars The book confuses discipline with spanking   July 22, 2008
2 out of 12 found this review helpful

This is another book which preaches to parents to spank their children because the bible commands them to do so. It is written in the bible that a woman who is not faithful should be stoned to death. Does it make this kind of practice right? The author emphasises that the spanking should be strong enough to cause pain, other wise it isn't effective. If spanking was effective why would parents have to do it again and again? The book confuses discipline which means to teach, with spanking. If the bible is a moral guide for a parent then he shouldn't use hitting since hitting is an unjust practice and it provides an immoral model for the child.

This is one of my favorite parenting books ever! It has made me love my kids even more, and love parenting them. It takes parenting from being about me to being about them and their relationship with God. A life changing book!

Lou's Book has been a great resource for parenting from the biblical perspective. His application of the scriptures in this challenging area of christian living is so helpful!

I thought this book completely hit the mark on what, we as Christian parents need to be doing in raising godly Christian children. This book is hard for many "luke warm Christians" to "hear" because it is not the "easy route" by any means. This kind of parenting takes a deeper more convicting FAITH then many Christians are willing to follow. This kind of parenting takes dedicated, involved, hard work. It won't work for folks who only see their children for a few hours before and after work. If God has called YOU to parent your children biblically and not hand it over to other intitutions this is the book for you.

Thank you Mr. Priolo for writing this book! I see some are slamming your work (who probably haven't even read it), but I found your work to be a valuable tool every Christian parent should read.
