Need to get to sleep? December 31, 2008 This book is better than any sleeping pill but without all those nasty drug interactions or side effects. Trust me, 10 minutes with this book and you will sleep well all night.
Adequate Textbook--frustrating links October 13, 2008 While the text is adequate for any Library management course, the referrals to the accompanying web site are quite annoying. The case studies included in the book are definite food for thought, but to tell the reader to see "the rest of this case study" at the web site is completely misleading. Once the reader attempts to read more at the web site, either the case study is not there, or it is the exact duplicate of the brief description in the textbook. Ugh!
Otherwise, the theory and text is fine.
In desperate need of copy-editing! August 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This edition contains an inexcusable number of typographical errors. Management of Information Services is already a tedious class, but having to read this dredge was embarrassing and insulting. My professor couldn't even read the questions aloud in class without having to correct for missing or incorrect words. I would rather read a well-edited text geared more toward business management, honestly. Aren't Information Professionals known for being detail-oriented?
bad textbook August 15, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
one of the worst I have ever had to go through. No white space, totally dry. Not a practical book for management. Only get it if you have to for a class.
good book even if not for a class! July 12, 2008 I have found this book to be a great tool for anyone in managment or choosing to go into management. It is targeted toward the library management segment, but the history, theory and anecdotal scenarios are applicable to all areas of business. It is well-written and even funny while communicating the points desired.
