This book rocks!! September 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a total newbie to this stuff. I did try with Reason 3.0 and bought several books and several DVD tutorials, but they were a waste of money!
Truesdell understands how difficult it is for the newbie to get on with music production and explains everything with a fine laser: getting every point explained. Now why can't other so-called "pros" do that?
Of course the experienced user will find lots of things to do that he/she may not know about. That's what's so good about this book: it covers the beginner and the seasoned user.
I'm going to give away all the books and the 3 DVDs instructional materials to an acquaintance that's learning Reason 3.0. I don't need them anymore. This book is the best! Bless you, Mr. Truesdell, for writing such a great tutorial.

Amazing book on an amazing program May 2, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love Reason, have used it since 2.0., and find it an astonishing program for digital music production. But the available documentation feels lacking, until I bought this book. Clif explains everything in a step-by-step manner, starting from the basics without talking down to the reader. And his writing style feels more like your buddy sitting down and showing you stuff, rather than like the usual "OK, dummie, do step 1, step2, step 3."
The included CD is very well put together, and has a lot of nifty loops and patches, and a lot more.
I highly recommend it.
