Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Based on the author's ongoing research, field observations, and interviews with library professionals, this edition thoroughly updates the previous one and simplifies the process of weeding. Slote shows librarians how to identify the core collections versus the weedable items. After reviewing current weeding practices and standards, he discusses a variety of traditional and computer-assisted methods for weeding. His approach is based on the new understanding of the relationship between in-library use and circulation use. A section dealing with reference (noncirculating) collections has been added, and the chapter on computer-assisted weeding has been completely rewritten to help librarians streamline the weeding process. All forms have been redesigned.

Customer Reviews:
Throw out those books that nobody uses! December 19, 1997 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Most books with titles like this are vaporware - promising a lot but delivering nothing. This one is real and should be read by everyone responsible for managing a library. I've read/skimmed it once and have begun a project to determine how often books on the Reference shelf are used. Spend the $55!
