Amazon.com Because it requires familiarity with so many technologies and their relationships, the Windows NT Server 4 in the Enterprise exam (70-068) has the reputation of being the toughest of the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) exams. If you're studying for this monster, you deserve to have Windows NT Server 4.0 in the Enterprise Accelerated MCSE Study Guide at your fingertips. This book is among the clearest and most thorough MCSE review books on the market. All of Microsoft's stated exam objectives are covered here. Starting with Windows NT installation and progressing through the optimization and expansion of networks, the authors--all MCSEs--explain how to make Microsoft networking technologies do your bidding. They explain how to administer users and network resources efficiently and securely. Then they show how to implement network-centric services. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) gets lots of attention, as do the Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) and the Domain Name System (DNS) under Windows NT. Will you pass the exam after reading this book? There's more to it than that--all MCSE tests require experimentation and practice. But this book will point you in the right direction as you learn about Windows NT and its networking capabilities. Furthermore, it'll guide you out of confusing situations and serve as a reference after you pass the test. --David Wall

BEWARE: If you bought the Server book, DON'T BUY THIS ONE! December 14, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Kinnaman has written truly great books that will prepare you for the MCSE exams, but I feel it is important to reiterate what the gentleman from Oklahoma City said about this book: IT IS A VIRTUAL COPY OF THE SERVER BOOK. Kinnaman tries to cover this up by adding a phrase here and there to sentences, but the book is essentially the same. This begs the question, are the Server and the Server in the Enterprise exams so similar that one can write the same book as a study guide for both? The reason I gave this book one star, even though it may sufficiently prepare you for the Enterprise exam, is that I think either Kinnaman or the publisher (or both) was (were) dishonest in not coming out with a Server/Enterprise combination book, that simply included the few chapters that don't appear in both books into one study guide. He (They) are trying to rip you off.BTW, the Table of Contents in the Enterprise book is totally screwed up (after the Intro, it starts off on page 77 with Windows 95, skipping Chapters 2 & 3), plus the chapter on Troubleshooting is repeated twice in the Table of Contents) PS: Can someone write another review that lists the chapters that differ between the Server and the Server in the Enterprise books?
Repeat of NT Server 4.0 May 8, 1999 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book because I bought the NT Server 4.0 book from these guys (which I would rate 4 or 5 stars). Unfortunlately, except for 1 1/2 chapters, it is the exact same book! So I am sending it back. I have to think there is more to the Enterprise test than what I studied for the Server Test. If not, I guess it would be a good book since I liked the NT Server 4.0 book.
The most helpful book I've found March 9, 1999 The Accelerated MCSE series has been an excellent source for exam preparation. After attending classes and on-the-job training, I used this book to put it all together. New Rider and Sybex pale in comparison. This book puts all the concepts together nicely and succinctly. I used this for the general overview and Tom Carter's excellent book on NT to complement Accelerated MCSE.
Recommending entire series to my MCSE classes December 1, 1998 After reading Patrick Neal's Windows 98, I decided to try the other books in this series. I'm glad I did. As an MCT, I'm recommending the entire series to my MCSE classes and I'd encourage everyone studying for the MCSE exams to do the same.
As good as Neals' Windows 98 book November 30, 1998 If you like Patrick Neal's Windows 98:Exam 70-098, which I did, then you'll benefit from buying this book also. Although co-written by Neal, Enterprise still has most of the key elements found in Neal's book. Namely, it's accurate and well-written. I'd recommend it to anyone preparing for the MCSE.
