Important Life Lessons in a Quick, Easy Read March 23, 2007 Using the fictional town Gumption as a backdrop, this book explores ways to balance professional and personal goals. The overworked protagonist is having difficulty managing his business and at-home responsibilities when he finds himself on the road and driving through Gumption. His brief stay is highlighted by several characters, all with different stories and lessons to share. When reading the book, I believe most readers will find themselves in the protagonist's shoes, comparing his struggles with their own. By the final page, the reader will learn the 11 Rules of Gumption. Whether you institute one or all of them into your life, both your work and family will undoubtedly benefit.
A must read for now and for the long term February 14, 2007 While shadowing the life of a man approaching the cross path of his life's journey, the reader is introduced to a practical approach to making life's hard decisions. The story and guidance empowers the reader to place more value on the golf balls (family, love, friends) in life, as opposed to the pebbles and sand (fancy cars, high powered career, rat race, etc.). Let The Road to Gumption be your journey's next and long-term path.
It's The Right Road December 27, 2006 Gary's 11 rules of Gumption and 5 P's of Change, as brought out during this interesting story, provide an excellent road map to resolving many personal and business conflicts. It's a quick read that will provoke many long hours of thinking about what a person can do to change their attitude towards work, relationships and other impediments to having the best relationship with, as Gary says it, LOAF (loved ones and fmaily).
Great Book - Easy Read October 25, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book was an excellent read both in content and in length. The storyline was very enjoyable with a nice setting that anyone could picture themself sitting in. The book's content was very introspective whether from the point of view of dealing with change in a workplace setting or change in your personal life. The context of the book was around a personal change of living the busy life versus doing what makes one truly satisfied with life.
The book uses 11 rules of Gumption that take you from making a decision, even a small one to how to sustain happiness and satisfaction with your choices.
If you have ever had that little voice in your head that makes you wonder, "should I change jobs, move to a new location, change careers, start a family, or even start a new business" this is a great read that will help you navigate your "Road to Gumption"...wherever that may lead you...
