A disappointment if you are a Systems Admin or Engineer June 2, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book was a disappointment. It is great if you are a sales guy but it does nothing for Systems Administrators, Systems Architects, or Systems Engineers. You will get the same information from the Citrix guides. All this book does is to give an in-depth overview of the products and its features, something that is very handy for sales people but does little, if anything, for experienced administrators or systems integrators.
I should have known better. I have read the previous versions of this book (the Presentation Server 4.0 series) and I had my hopes up regarding this new title thinking the authors probably learned from the mostly negative reviews and improved this release accordingly. It was a major disappointment to realize this one is just as bad, if not worse, than the previous attempts.
I'm sorry to give only two stars to this book but I see no other choice. The only good positive I see is that the book is very helpful for sales representatives trying to sell Citrix XenApp products and other components.
I will add this: I am going to keep my copy. I think it might be useful as a reference for general information, list of features of the product suite, etc (and I have the previous editions of these official guides so I will add this one to the collection).
Not so hot May 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
More of a 1000 foot overview of the product than a book for administrators or integrators. I returned my copy.
