This book is a very good reference for security matters!I bought the book while preparing for my CISSP exam, which I passed by the way ;-), and was positive about the layout and content.
The book covers the Common Body of Knowledge, as expected of a CISSP preparation book, but does this in a clear and concise way. I have previously seen other US book repeating themselves over and over, but this book does NOT in any way do that - each page is worth the paper it is printed on.
The introduction is very good and brings people "up to speed" with the world as it is today in Internet security.
Each chapter includes the relevant material necessary and references to ressources on the Internet. Then each chapter is closed by a small test to let you know if you absorbed the stuff, and help you remember the key points.
I haven't tried the accompanying CD-ROM, but used the tests found at http://...- I use a Mac ;-)
I can recommend the book, and in fact I am using it in a security course for 18 students, which ALL got this book as the main book.
Highly recommended starting point and reference book for information security.
