5 out of 5 stars Great Book!   November 23, 2008
This book is a must have for any IT tech or personal computer hobbyist. Even advanced knowledged users sometimes need a little refreshing on some matters and this does the job excellent. It covers from the most basic to some advanced features and doesn't overwhelm the reader with ultra advanced jargon. The dvd was a bit dissapointing to me, but others may find it useful. It deals almost entirely with wired and wireless networking and doesn't show any new clips with the newest motherboards and processors like the author does with his previous edition. Overall it is a very good book.

5 out of 5 stars Another winner   November 16, 2008
I totally enjoy reading Scott Mueller's books on computers, simply because he writes so you can understand what he is saying. His books are up to date on the very latest computer systems, plus Windows. Included is a DVD which has become invaluable to own, as you can watch on your monitor what he has written. If you don't own this book and you are interested in computers you should have it in your library. Your knowledge will be improved without having to use a computer dictionary to understand what he is saying.

5 out of 5 stars This is the best book of it's kind.   July 12, 2008
This is the best book I've ever read of it's kind, I have a decent ammount of experience upgrading but if only I had had this book before, I would have saved several hours of looking on the internet for info that was not accurate or as extensive,or doing trial and error until I got it right. If you're serious about upgrading, repairing, or anything that has to do with computer hardware this is the best for you.

5 out of 5 stars Good Reference Book   June 13, 2008

I've been doing PC repairs and custom builds for a few years. This book is a good reference book for the technician. It's also a good reference material book when studying up on some certifications. This book is for both the novice and the experienced pc technicians.

I read one of these computer repair books every couple of years to keep up with changes. I have found this author to be a very good source of the latest information.
