Product Description
Frustrated by the overwhelming nature of Flash?

Want to get up to speed with the program fast so you can concentrate on your animation?

Need to solve problems quickly to get work done to time and to budget?

Then 'How to Cheat in Flash' is for you!

This book is different from the rest because it shows you, step by step, how to work from the problem to the solution when creating Flash animations, from the viewpoint of an animator who has been commissioned to create a job and is working to a deadline.

It is task orientated; every example shows real life commercial work. So, it's not so much a case of 'what does this filter/tool/option do?', as 'this is the task I've been set - how do I achieve it?' The solution may involve a variety of tools and techniques; it may take many steps to complete, or only a few. The free CD-Rom includes all the files you need to put your skills into practice as you read, and much more!

It's an accessible (conversational in style), practical book and CD package which also provides artistic inspiration, a goldmine of timesaving practical tips, tricks and step-by-step workthroughs. You will wonder how you survived without it.

* Successful, bestselling How to Cheat coverage now available for Flash
* Learn a myriad of tips and tricks based on real life working methods to help you work faster and more efficiently with Flash
* Work from the problem to the solution, gaining the best possible results from Flash

4 out of 5 stars good read but not really helpful   October 20, 2008
1 out of 2 found this review helpful

I enjoyed reading this book it was colorful and pleasant but not very technically helpful XD I don't regret buying and reading it but it wasn't very necessary... I've now read about 7 other flash/flash game programming books and this one I'll probably reference the least but I still don't regret buying it =)

5 out of 5 stars Great Tips for Quick Work!   October 19, 2008
I recommend this book to any Flash professional or novice out there. He delivers great tutorials and sound advice that makes sense!

5 out of 5 stars aha moments   October 2, 2008
This book is good all around, but has several of those aha nuggets that make it a very happy purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome book on flash animation.   September 17, 2008
I had been looking for a book on cartoon animation with flash to help fill in the small knowledge gaps that I had to complete my animation. This book covered all of those gaps and more. There are tricks I didn't even know I needed, and now I know them. Thanks for such a great book.

5 out of 5 stars The best choice for Flash animators   September 15, 2008
The title of this book isn't misleading at all; author Chris Georgenes gives out an arsenal of tips/technics on how to make the most use of tools that are in front of us all the time while we author with Flash.
I got this book because I wanted to improve my animation skills. I've been doing flash websites and ocationally some advertising in Flash. This book is very easy to read, as it is very visual. With 270 pages this book contains a huge amount of graphics that will guide you through the precise steps on topics such as:

- Design Styles
- Masking
- Motion tips and tricks
- Character animation
- Working with sound & video
- Interactivty

And if that isn't enough for you, the bundled CD-ROM includes all the animations covered in the book in .fla format, so you can see for your self how a good animation is really done.
This is one of the few books I would recomend to all Flash users at all levels. And if you're into animation, this is certainly a must have.
