| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Computer Manual to Accompany Pattern Classification and its associated MATLAB software is an excellent companion to Duda: Pattern Classfication, 2nd ed, (DH&S). The code contains all algorithms described in Duda as well as supporting algorithms for data generation and visualization. The Manual uses the same terminology as the DH&S text and contains step-by-step worked examples, including many of the examples and figures in the textbook. The Manual is accompanied by software that is available electronically. The software contains all algorithms in DH&S, indexed to the textbook, and uses symbols and notation as close as possible to the textbook. The code is self-annotating so the user can easily navigate, understand and modify the code.

Doesn't deserve to be called a manual October 2, 2008 It's an paperback book that could probably just shrink down into the plastic outline notes that sells for $5 at the bookstore. It sure is a collection of the basic instruction of Matlab that you can google or go bonehead with the help feature in Matlab. Definitely, not worth the price.
Good for someone new to both Matlab, programming and AI July 29, 2008 This is underwhelming and I personally don't see much value in it.
It could, however, be a nice introduction to AI in MatLab for a novice in the computer realm as one is able to download a handy toolbox for experimentation with the purchase of this book.
Don't buy it March 19, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This supplementary book is absolutely useless. The contents of this book are poor and sparsely laid out, it just like an entry level MATLAB tutorial.
Not worth the money March 9, 2008 A general walk through of the Matlab functions related to pattern classification, if you have any programming experience with Matlab (which you probably do if you are trying to accomplish this type of activity) the book is pretty much wasted money, other than serving as a readable reference for all the commands and options available for selection. It doesn't cover really anything about implementation, use, or troubleshooting. Save your money unless you are a complete Matlab newbie.
Underwhelmed April 3, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Talk about over-hype from reviewer #1!
This "manual" is thin on substantive content, with TONS of whitespace & whitepages to stretch it out to ~125pages. The documentation of the code should be available as a PDF with files on MATLAB's file exchange or on the publisher's website. Save yourself some $$.
