Toyota Prius Repair Manual November 25, 2008 This is a well organized and very clearly written repair manual for the Toyota Prius. It contains all the basic information you would need for normal maintennance and servicing routine items. It is not a substitute for the Toyota factory documentation and it is lacking some details in more complex repairs but overall I found it most useful. This harcover copy is a bit pricey but since I will have the car for a long time, it made sense to get it this way.
Prius Repair Manual November 13, 2008 This manual is very informative with lots of good pictures. The information is very direct without a lot of uninformative jabber. I found lots of unique information not seen on most Websites. I even had a service rep try and tell me the "B" gear is for battery only use.
Nice, but not complete October 17, 2008 A good book, very thorough on technical details. But, it does not add anything on top of regular US maintenance stuff. For example, EBH, EV button or other items that are standard Toyota equipment (if not in the U.S. then in Canada and Europe). If it had those, including sources for those original Toyota parts, I'd give it a 5.
Should have bought a Chilton Manual October 8, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Repeats much of the information in the owner manual. Interesting discussion on how Toyota hybrid engine works. Lacks details such as where the a/c condensation drain line runs, so when clogged the passenger well carpet gets soaked. Needs more detailed diagrams (no better, often same as owner manual).
An in-depth reference of the car October 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you want to know how your Prius works (as opposed to how to use it) this is a great book. It's a large book with hard cover and quality paper. The actual structure of the book is designed to be used in the shop.
If you want to hack your car this is full of useful information about the stock configuration.
If you are like me and just curious about how your car works and paranoid enough to feel an obligation to know how your car works (beyond the marketing material) this book may be overkill, but all other books outside the toyota official manual (that I've seen) fall short.
The presentation of information is logically organized and I find it's usually easy to find information I'm interested in.
