Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Comprehensive and self contained, this tutorial covers the design of a plethora of combinational and sequential logic circuits using conventional logic design and Verilog HDL. Number systems and number representations are presented along with various binary codes. Several advanced topics are covered, including functional decomposition and iterative networks. A variety of examples are provided for combinational and sequential logic, computer arithmetic, and advanced topics such as Hamming code error correction. Constructs supported by Verilog are described in detail. All designs are continued to completion. Each chapter includes numerous design issues of varying complexity to be resolved by the reader.

5 out of 5 stars Another well written book by Mr. Cavanagh   June 29, 2008

This book provides a complete exposition of digital logic analysis and synthesis. The author presents a thorough coverage on Verilog HDL as it applies to combinational logic, sequential logic, and computer arithmetic design. Error detection and correction is also included and covers Hamming code, CRC code, residue checking, and parity prediction with Verilog designs for Hamming code and residue checking. A great book from which to learn logic design and Verilog HDL.

5 out of 5 stars Mr. Cavanagh has another winning book!   June 29, 2008

A great book to learn how to design logic circuits, both combinational and sequential. The author provides excellent coverage on designing logic circuits using Verilog HDL, including built-in primitives, dataflow modeling, behavioral modeling, and structural modeling. Functional decomposition and iterative arrays are designed using both traditional methods and Verilog. As a student, I especially like the appendix which provides a comprehensive selection of answers to many problems.
